inspiration from Built by Wendy

i've long been a fan of Built By Wendy - both the shop as well as her patterns/books. i feel like she merges the fashion and sewing worlds better than any one else i've seen. i love the simplicity of her designs, wonderful choices of fabric and effortlessness it all encompasses. given that she explains how to make so many items in so many different ways, it only makes sense to take a look at her online shop to get ideas from, and apply it to your own projects for your wardrobe. here are a few of my favorites from her spring collection that great be easy to make.

this striped nautical dress is so simple, yet perfect. so easy to whip up in an afternoon - made from a knit it wouldn't need any sort of fancy detailing. the only thing to add the final touch is the nautical rope with knots.

i love this layered gauzy paper bag skirt. after going through many years coveting ruffles, now i want the exact opposite...straight, angular lines. love the lines and the layers. and the eyelet bustier is fantastic as well!

oh my goodness this dress is perfection. bright coral, dolman sleeves, effortless fit. love.

i've got a thing for stripes. and love the way this dolman tee has raglan shaping across the shoulders with the diagonal lines.
