knit project: baktus black & white striped scarf

after struggling REALLY HARD to figure out how to make this stitch work, i gave up after about 30 minutes. because it probably is a rib stitch and i don't know how to make a rib look like that. AND because i found the baktus pattern which is super easy, magical looking, and the pattern is already figured out. i was so excited about making this scarf i literally bought the yarn and knit it up within just a few days. that never happens for me!

yarn: cascade 220 wool - 1 skein of black and 1 of beige
needles: size 8 US (5mm)
pattern: baktus scarf
my ravelry project: striped baktus

the scarf pattern is kind of a bit genius. i've been looking for the perfect full-sized kerchief pattern for a very long time. this one conforms to the amount of yarn that you have. you weigh your yarn, knit making your increases til you get through half your yarn weight, then knit with your decreases. perfect! and to do the stripes, i just changed color after every 2 rows.

and i'll be posting about the panda pin very soon!
