every knitting project i take on, i try to look for a pattern with a new technique...something to learn. generally scarves are pretty boring so i never want to knit them. so, i finally went on a search and found some really great patterns.
the first i'm going with is a honey scarf pattern is honey colored yarn. so perfect. i thought the honeycomb stitch pattern 1. would keep things interesting technique-wise, 2. would create a dense fabric (good for warmth) and 3. look unique. so far, i love it!

I saw the Capra yarn on the Knit Picks website the other day...I'm soo jealous, your cowl must be so soft and warm!
Not to mention beautiful with a capital B! The color is gorgeous (and delectable), and the pattern ties everything together. This is really quite awesome :)
the yarn with the slip stitch pattern does make it pretty luscious and thick. i think it'll make a great warm scarf for these crazy winters we've been having in NYC. i'm liking capra so far. i'm just waiting to see how it holds up after use! if it does, it may be my new favorite go-to yarn.

It is good to see you knitting and posting again. I highly recommend Knitting New Scarves by Lynne Barr. The book has some unique and interesting construction techniques with clear directions.

Hi! I just found your blog through Ravelry... I'm going to be making this pattern, and I just love the proportions of yours... is it the 44" x 12" or 32" x 16"? The pattern offers 4 sizes, which is great, but it's making it hard to decide!
hi lila - it's the biggest one in there...so i guess that's the 44x12. it's a good size! it hangs nice and long with no loops, and with 1 loop fits close and thickly against your neck for cold days.
